Docs › What it can do

Users, comments & updates

Add an editor, change a role, clean up spam comments or update WordPress itself, all by asking, with your approval and (where possible) undo.

Users#

  • List and look up users with their roles; email addresses are shown masked.
  • Create a user with a role. WordPress emails them a link to set their own password: PressHelm never sets, sees or sends passwords.
  • Change a role, name or email (undo puts it back). The admin PressHelm is connected as and the last administrator are never demoted.
  • Delete a user: their posts and pages go to a user you choose. This cannot be undone, so it always asks.

Comments#

See waiting comments, approve, unapprove, mark as spam or trash up to 100 at a time. Undo puts every comment back where it was.

WordPress updates#

PressHelm checks which WordPress version is installed and what WordPress.org offers. An update asks for your approval with the exact version and its release notes, and the site is checked right after. Core updates cannot be undone by PressHelm, so for a major version keep a hosting backup.
