Plugins & themes

Install, update and switch plugins from WordPress.org, and make safe theme changes with child themes and draft copies you preview before publishing.

Plugins#

  • Search WordPress.org and compare plugins (ratings, installs, last update).
  • Install: new plugins arrive inactive. Activate and deactivate with approval.
  • Update: a snapshot of the old version is taken first; undo restores the previous files.
  • Delete: the folder is snapshotted, and undo brings it back.

Themes, safely#

  • Child theme: PressHelm creates one so your changes survive theme updates.
  • Draft theme: a copy of your theme to work on, with a preview link only you can open. Publish it when you approve.
  • PressHelm edits the files of the child and draft themes it made, with a backup of every file.

I want a new footer with our address and social icons, but I want to see it first.
I made a draft copy of your theme and changed the footer there. Preview (only you can open it): mysite.com/?ph_preview=… Shall I publish it?
